Mike Henneman:
Mike Henneman rejoins the Marshals
Mike Henneman, the original McKinney Marshal and a former All-Star who pitched for the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros over a 10-year career, has returned to the McKinney Marshals as a roving pitching instructor and ambassador for youth baseball. Henneman, who founded the original version of the Marshals including the TCL Collegiate League McKinney Marshals, will work with Marshals pitchers of all ages. He will be available for team instruction as well as one-on-one pitching instruction for Marshals players.
Henneman was The Sporting News Rookie Pitcher of the Year in 1987, and led Detroit Tigers relief pitchers in wins and ERA in both 1987 and 1988. He was elected to the American League All-Star team in 1989. He has the second-most saves (154) in Detroit TIgers history. "Baseball has given me so much over the years," said Henneman. "It is important to me that I give something back. I like what is happening with the Marshals now, and I like the emphasis on providing a positive experience and a quality organization for players and parents. I plan to help in any way I can." He said he especially is looking forward to tutoring pitchers who have a goal of pitching at the collegiate level or professionally.

9U Marshals Pitch in to Battle Cancer
In April the 9u McKinney Marshals were sponsored in the Strikes Against Cancer campaign - $1 for every strike thrown. Coach Lionel Carlton and the 9U staff did a great job ensuring that every player on the roster pitched in a game during April as they wanted to do their best together.
The total for the month was 537 strikes thrown. The first strike thrown was a called strike. The last strike thrown was a called strike for the last out of the game. Every strike in between was just as great for the boys as they really started to understand the big picture in helping fight this disease.
The 9u Marshals also participated in the “Pink the Park” tournament with 176 teams from the MetroPlex (20 teams in the 9u division). The 9U Marshals finished in 6th place out of 176 teams -- a magnificent effort.
